Girl Back Tattoo

A popular tattoo for females is a girl back tattoo.

This has become a trendy spot for many girls. While a girl back tattoo can have many placement benefits, there are other things to consider:

1. Where exactly should a girl back tattoo go?

Most designs are placed in the lower back area. Unfortunately, this area has become so much of a trend, that it is now seen as an unoriginal area to get inked. If you go into any nightclub now days, it seems more often than not that most girls will have similar tattoo designs, and they will all be placed on the low back area.

Tattoos were originally meant to stand for something unique and personal, as opposed to being trendy. If you personally feel the low center back area is ideal for you, then by all means consider that area for your ink. But if you are leaning towards this just because all your girlfriends are inked there, you may want to reconsider a more original and personal spot for your ink.

2. What's a "tramp stamp" all about?

Because of the trendy nature of this tattoo style, the slang term "tramp stamp" has emerged which essentially refers to any tattoos on females in that low center back area. This is what happens when something becomes too trendy and too many people jump on the bandwagon. People recognize the pattern, and realize it is no longer subculture but mainstream, and thus attach a negative, derogatory label to it. So just be aware of this slang term, and again if you are set on the back placement then simply rise above the tramp stamp labeling.

3. How about some alternatives?

Other areas of placement can be the upper back (or the back of the shoulder area), and even the middle back, though it'll be less noticeable there.

Another great alternative is side body placement. You can have a tattoo placed on your obliques. These side tattoos can be much more unique and original as far as placement goes.

Most importantly, you always want to research and find the right tattoo, and then see how it will look in the area you prefer. There are great galleries online where your can print out designs, place them on your body, and get a better idea of what your design will look like.
